About the Role:
We are seeking a hands-on, electrically biased Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a small engineering team at our Cambridge site. This is a varied role that involves:
- Preventative maintenance
- First-line reactive repairs
- Diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently
- Maintaining accurate documentation and records in the Preventative Maintenance system
You'll be supporting production by ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently, contributing to continuous improvement projects and liaising with external contractors when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and condition-based preventative maintenance on all electro-mechanical equipment.
- Carry out first-line diagnostics and reactive repairs, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives alongside the Operations Team, occasionally working with third-party providers.
- Complete risk assessments for equipment, collaborating with the Engineering Manager and Health & Safety personnel.
- Maintain up-to-date procedures and records using the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Manage technical spares and consumables, including regular stock audits.
- Liaise with and supervise on-site contractors as necessary.
- Keep technical skills current through training and development, both on-site and externally.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Working knowledge of PLC programming logic
- Able to interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with Motion Control, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic systems
Experience working with milling or grain-handling equipment is a plus
