This is a multi-product brand who are looking for an experienced Product Technologist to come and own a large category whilst leading and inspiring junior members of the team.
You will be responsible for running your own department and being actively involved with:

  • Initial concepts, samples & the development stage
  • Leading all fit/product testing sessions
  • Being accountable for the sealing process
  • Managing returns
  • Improving quality and returns rates
  • Maintaining & nurturing supplier relationships
  • Nurturing in-house relationships with buyers, designers, merchandisers

You will already be operating at Product Technologist level, meaning that you have experience with people management & developing others, along with the ability to successfully run multiple categories.

AS THE PRODUCT TECHNOLOGIST:

  • Work with your Buyer on a daily basis and design team to ensure that styles are going through the fit process in timely manner
  • Full awareness of the critical path
  • i.e all first stage, 2nd fit and final fit (gold seal) are being communicated on with the supplier in line with the critical path
  • Any delays or sample issues at fit stage should be being highlighted to the wider team such as your buyer and designer
  • Any sample, fabric or trim concerns from a legal. compliance or ethical point of view should be being highlighted to the sourcing team to protect both the brand and supplier
  • Own all fit processes from grading, workbook management & supplier communication
  • Ability to request fair cost price reductions
  • Ability to set up standardised blocks for best sellers allowing the department to trade quickly
  • Create new specs for initial samples, working closely with your wider team to bring newness into the business
  • Confidently to review the supply base and capabilities, an ideal applicant may be able to introduce and onboard new suppliers
  • Provide return rate reports in Monday trade, sign offs and lesson learnt meetings
  • Manage test reports, quality checks, care labels and supplier manuals
  • Request AQL reports from your suppliers and manage the production seal process
  • Proactively support buying & design team with new sample development
  • Support with fabric and trim sourcing
  • Track and show awareness of competitors from a product offer, quality and construction perspective
