Job Title: Mechanical Production Engineer
Location: Bridgwater
Salary: £40K-£45K
Hours: Monday - Friday 37.5 hours 8am-5:30pm

Our well established client in Bridgwater have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Production Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The engineer will be involved in the overall mechanical design of the product, including the development of new concepts and the refinement of existing designs. The engineer will also be responsible for the development of engineering specifications and drawings, as well as working with other engineers and departments to ensure the successful implementation of the design.

Based at their Bridgwater factory, reporting to the Operations Manager, you will join a small team and your responsibilities will include:

  • Determining the project requirements, including usage of product and functionality.
  • Design and production of 2D & 3D drawings using engineering design programs.
  • Generate BOM's in our ERP system.
  • Adhere to the specifications and established industry standards of the product while also ensuring that they meet the needs of the consumer.
  • Determining with the Operations Department manufacturing requirements and processes.
  • Involved in the developing of manufacturing processes and developing the supply chains of our key suppliers.
  • Determining production cost and strategising the most cost-effective means of production.
  • Evaluating the final product in terms of appearance, performance, functionality, durability, and safety.
  • Implementing feedback and making revisions.
  • Generating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM's).

Attributes.

  • Ideally hold an Engineering related Qualification (BEng/HNC/HND/Bachelor's degree) in mechanical engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a production design engineer.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing production and processes.
  • Proficient with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor and Solidworks.
  • Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities as you will need to liaise with internal and external suppliers.
  • Attentive to detail and critically minded.
  • The ability to stay abreast of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to establish and develop relationships with internal and external sources.
  • Ability to be flexible and open to changes.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
  • Competent in Microsoft office applications.

Benefits

  • 37.5 hours per week with the core hours being 8.00am start with a finishing time of 5.30pm with 1 hour for lunch, 5 days a week. There is a 1-hour flexible start & finish time providing that a minimum of 7.5 hours is completed per day.
  • 20 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays. This increases 1 day per year worked to a maximum of 25 days + Bank Holidays.
  • 3 days are allocated for the Christmas shutdown.
  • Contributory private pension scheme that the company will match your contribution of 4%. You do have the option of having this contribution paid into a pension of your choice.
  • Death in service insurance 1 x salary.
