Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Production Team Leaders and Managers
- Supervise and coordinate engineering support team activities
- Plan and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines
- Achieve team KPIs for equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance
Technical Expertise and Development
- Coach engineers and machine minders on safe practices and fault resolution
- Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and basic control issues
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis
- Identify areas for improvement in production environment, equipment, and systems
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Audit monitoring systems to ensure compliance with company procedures and legislation
- Implement corrective actions as needed
- Adhere to non-conformance processes and corrective action protocols
- Support plant KPIs related to Safety, Quality, People, Delivery, and Cost standards
Objectives
- Deliver high-quality engineering services to achieve operational targets
- Ensure timely completion of all allocated work
- Promote safe working practices and efficient fault resolution
- Drive continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Level 3 City & Guilds/BTEC/ONC in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working to KPIs in an FMCG setting
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in People Management activities
- Proven expertise in electrical systems, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Level 2 Food Safety Certification
- Experience with Improvement Strategy and Risk Analysis assessments
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles and ability to operate to safe and approved procedures
- IPAF or equivalent training
- IEE wiring regulations (current edition)
- Competant IT skills, in particular with Microsoft Office
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Understanding of cost and budget management
- Familiarity with energy efficiency practices in industrial settings
- MHE and/or PPT Licence
- Level 3 Food Safety Certification
