Site Operative

We are currently recruiting for a Site Operative for our Regis Road Reuse and Recycling Centre, conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Kentish Town station.

As a Site Operative, your primary duties will involve managing waste, directing traffic, and conducting regular inspections to uphold a clean and safe environment for all visitors.

Responsibilities

Your day to day responsibilities include:

  • To assist in controlling of traffic movements within the facility.
  • To carry out waste inspections dealing with non-conforming or unacceptable wastes as appropriate, and reporting such instances in accordance with the site procedure.
  • To keep the site clean at all times using appropriate hand tools and manual handling techniques, including the clearing up of all waste spillages in line with company guidelines.
  • To contain and dispose of any spillages (including oils) within the facility and keep the site free from litter. To litter pick all areas as appropriate.
  • Assist members of the public with unloading of their vehicles, (where it is safe and appropriate to do so) and advice on the correct method for deposal of recyclable items into the appropriate bins/areas.
  • To assist in the maintenance of the vehicle log and other administration tasks as instructed.
  • To clean the rest facilities as required.
  • Drive Loading Shovel to load waste materials.
  • Ensuring that the Health & Safety at Work Act and the LondonEnergy Ltd. safety procedures are always carried out

Requirements

To be considered for this position, we're looking for the below:

  • Ability to work shifts on a rota Monday - Sunday (08:30 - 16:30)
  • Ability to deal tactfully but firmly with others
  • Clear verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think quickly and handle emergency situations calmly and with confidence.
  • Having a flexible approach and willingness to change duties as necessary.
  • An ability to understand and follow On-Site and Health and Safety rules.
  • Ability to undertake other appropriate duties as required at other LEL sites.
  • Personal circumstances must allow for covering the other members of the team when they are sick or on holiday.
  • Having a loading shovel licence or forklift truck licence would be preferable but not essential
  • Previous experience of traffic controlling and site operative work would be desirable.
  • Experience in a public/customer focused role desirable. Previous experience working as part of on-site team would be desirable
  • Health and Safety training desirable.
  • Customer service training would be advantageous
  • Must be willing to undergo training as part of their role
