Our client is a long-established practice based in Plymouth. They are very much aware that their staff are vital to the success of their business.

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Legal Cashier to join a well-established team of Legal Cashiers. This is a full-time office-based role. The successful candidate should have previous experience of working as a Legal Cashier and will have the ability to work to strict time scales as an individual and as part of a team.

Job Description:

The Legal Cashier will be responsible for managing the financial transactions of the firm, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal finance and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process client and office account transactions, including receipts, payments, and transfers.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other financial reports as required.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Liaise with fee earners and support staff to ensure efficient financial operations.
  • Handle queries related to financial transactions and provide support to the finance team.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or in a similar role within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in legal accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
