We are now looking for a Senior Lighting Designer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week.

The Role

As a Senior Lighting Designer, you will lead the design and delivery of high-end residential and luxury hospitality lighting projects from conception through to completion.

You'll be our creative and technical expert, working with our lighting design team to deliver exceptional lighting solutions that meet both aesthetic and functional needs, whilst adhering to budgetary and regulatory requirements.

Engaging with our clients, you'll organise vision and briefing meetings to enable them to realise their lighting vision and conduct walkthroughs to determine optimal lighting solutions. You'll develop designs using Photoshop and CAD, ensuring client satisfaction and technical excellence.

Supporting our business development efforts, you'll help us secure high-profile clients, identify improvements to streamline our processes and identify innovative new lighting concepts, showcasing our strong portfolio and thought leadership.

Additionally, you will:

  • Produce construction drawings, electrical load schedules and specification sheets
  • Oversee the construction phase, collaborating with architects, engineers and other stakeholders
  • Work with the Blinds & Curtains team to integrate designs
  • Mentor and support junior lighting designers
  • Handle all project queries

About You

To be considered as ourSenior Lighting Designer, you will need:

  • Significant experience of lighting design within a design practice
  • Experience designing and specifying lighting control systems, namely Rako, or the willingness to learn quickly
  • Experience of co-ordinating offshore workers and UK freelancers
  • Excellent project management and commercial skills, with experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to hand sketch lighting details
  • Competency in the use of Sketch-Up
  • The ability to use lighting design and calculation tools, such as Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign and Dialux
  • Strong technical understanding of luminaires currently available from leading manufacturers
  • A solid understanding of the practical side of construction
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal

A degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering or a related field would be beneficial to your application, as would membership of professional bodies such as the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) or the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
