About the role

As senior cross-asset strategist at Hargreaves Lansdown (HL), you will provide thought leadership and expertise on the global macroeconomic and market environment, and design, discuss and implement tactical cross-asset allocation trades for the HL Multi-Manager funds.

In this brand-new role within HL Fund Management, you will have significant input into the tactical and strategic asset allocation process, with the autonomy and scope to apply your market knowledge and quantitative experience to formulate and define the team's view and outlook on markets.

This is an exciting time to join our Fund Management business, with a large and growing range of multi-asset funds, and a unique opportunity to design the tactical asset allocation framework for the HL mixed assets funds. You will be working in close collaboration with our high performing Fund Management team and engaging with colleagues to achieve buy-in of your vision.

What you'll be doing

  • Conducting macroeconomic and market research to identify the best investment opportunities across different asset classes and regions.
  • Developing and implementing cross-asset tactical allocation trades for the HL Multi-Manager funds, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the performance and positioning of the cross-asset strategies and making adjustments as needed according to changing market conditions.
  • Communicating and presenting the cross-asset views and outlook to internal and external stakeholders, such as fund analysts, managers, clients, and media.
  • Collaborating with other fund analysts and managers to share insights and ideas, and to ensure the investment process is aligned and consistent across the HL Multi-Manager funds.
  • Staying updated on the latest developments and innovations in the fund management industry and following the best practices and standards for cross-asset allocation.

About you

To succeed as senior cross-asset strategist at HL, you will have:

  • significant experience in a similar role with experience in tactical asset allocation
  • excellent quantitative analysis knowledge
  • high level of computer literacy
  • Masters degree or equivalent with continued intellectual curiosity
  • Investment Management Certificate (or working towards it) CFA and/or CQF (desirable)
  • excellent knowledge of financial markets and analytical capacity to generate investment ideas
  • ability to work within a team and engage with colleagues, a wide range of stakeholders and senior leadership
  • ability to present persuasively to audiences and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders such as clients and the media

Interview process

The interview process will include a skills-based interview, followed by a final stage interview including a psychometric assessment, presentation, and behaviour-based questions.

Working schedule

This is a full time, permanent role covering 37.5 hours per week. Our office is based in Bristol, BS1 5HL - hybrid working is available, flexible and open for discussion.
