We are seeking a School Business Manager to provide comprehensive support to the Head Teacher and Governors. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and effective use of school resources, facilitating improvements in teaching and learning standards and achievements.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead planning, development, and monitoring of support systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Efficiently deploy staff and resources to provide an effective service for pupils, Governors, and the staff team.
  • Line manage various teams, including office staff and caretaker, setting objectives and conducting annual reviews.
  • Coordinate recruitment, induction, appraisal, training, and mentoring as required.
  • Actively participate in the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Oversee financial management, including budget planning, management, and auditing.
  • Manage financial administration procedures and ensure compliance with financial management standards.
  • Lead procurement processes and manage third-party service contracts.
  • Market and promote the school, managing facilities, lettings, and associated income.
  • Provide advice and guidance on complex issues and manage school licenses and insurance.
  • Ensure health & safety management within the school.
  • Develop and maintain operational and strategic management systems, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Analyze data, produce reports, and manage complex administrative procedures.
  • Support the Local Governing Body with organisational and advisory tasks.
  • Manage payroll processes and coordinate absence management procedures.
  • Uphold procedures related to child protection, health, safety, and data protection.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and line management skills.
  • Excellent financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Experience in procurement and contract management.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations.
  • Competency in data analysis and report writing.
  • Ability to manage complex administrative procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
