We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a friendly finance team team on an 11-month fixed-term contract. This full-time role offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a balance between working from the office and your home. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, with knowledge of Sage software and foreign currency transactions being advantageous.

Day to day of the role:

  • Manage the purchase ledger by coding and processing invoices.
  • Conduct monthly payment runs and handle ad hoc payments to suppliers through our online banking platform.
  • Process, code, and pay head office staff expenses, including creating expenses for Board members from receipts submitted.
  • Handle the sales ledger, predominantly inter-company, by raising recharge invoices for bank and intercompany loan interest, management charges, etc., and perform credit control for these accounts.
  • Update sterling and foreign denominated cashbooks in Sage and Excel, including bank reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with the Group Treasury department to ensure foreign exchange deals and bank loan transactions are processed and recorded correctly.
  • Execute bank transfers for inter-group foreign exchange deals.
  • Raise necessary journals for nominal ledger, sales ledger, and purchase ledger.
  • Perform month-end reconciliations and close of purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash books, and nominal ledger.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Provide ad-hoc support with other reporting tasks, such as weekly sales.
  • Carry out other ad-hoc administrative duties, including supporting the Executive Assistant to the Board and CEO.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in using Sage 200/Sage 50 is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping role.
  • Familiarity with foreign currency transactions.
  • Part-qualified accountant or qualification by experience.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time-management skills.
