HR Manager

As the Head of People, you will play a crucial role in driving our client forward as an employer of choice. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the People Strategy, ensuring human resources are optimised, and fostering a high-performing, fulfilling, and diverse work environment across their multi-site facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Define and refine a vision for a modern People function, ensuring all colleagues feel valued, supported, and motivated to achieve business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with key stakeholders to lead efforts in attraction, retention, skills development, wellbeing, cultural change, and talent management, promoting diversity, equality, and inclusiveness.
  • Leadership: Lead the People Team, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, ensuring the people strategy remains relevant in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
  • Talent Management: Oversee talent identification, attraction, and development, driving succession planning and continuous improvement initiatives focused on engagement and welfare activities.
  • Policy and Compliance: Develop and implement policies and processes to mitigate staff attrition and absence. Ensure compliance with current regulations, professional standards, policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Employee Experience: Cultivate a strong company culture aligned with our client's values. Provide expert professional advice to senior management on all aspects of people relations, including remuneration, wellbeing, learning and development, employee relations, and employment law.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Oversee the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion program, ensuring the use of techniques to attract a diverse group of people and present balanced shortlists.
  • Employer Branding: Lead initiatives to develop the employer brand, collaborating with PR & Marketing to enhance presence on external platforms like Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn.
  • Performance Metrics: Measure and report key performance indicators related to recruitment, retention, engagement, and absence.
  • Community Engagement: Continuously develop community links, aligning with the client's ESG objectives.

Experience & Essential Qualities:

  • Qualifications: CIPD Level 7 or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • HR Expertise: Significant experience in a senior generalist HR role, preferably in a stand-alone capacity, with a strong track record of developing and implementing projects across various HR disciplines.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills to guide discussions, achieve objectives, and promote best practices.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently, take responsibility for actions, and make decisions with minimal direction.
  • Problem-Solving: Creative thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional networking, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Empathy: Strong empathy and listening skills to understand diverse opinions and needs.
  • Conflict Management: Tact and ability to identify and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Emotional Intelligence: High level of emotional intelligence, with a flexible and inclusive approach to leadership.
  • Commercial Mindset: Demonstrates a commercial mindset and a collaborative style.
  • Authenticity: An active listener who leads by example and demonstrates authenticity.
