I am collaborating with one of the UK's most dynamic companies, which is on the lookout for an experienced IT Hosting Engineer focused on providing and supporting secure, highly available hosting environments.
Having partnered with this client for several years, we've witnessed their technical teams expand both nationally and globally. They are currently engaged in a range of exciting projects and are looking for someone to join a role created purely due to growth. This role could well be suitable for someone who's moving into their second role, or someone who wants to get more hands-on with Azure.
To excel in this role, you should have experience in ensuring all hosting assets are optimally configured and delivering to agreed KPIs. The demands of the customer necessitate a 24/365 service, so being part of an on-call rota is essential.
Success in this role requires you to work to agreed timescales for all aspects of fault analysis and rectification, adhere to ISO Standards (9001 & 27001), and take ownership of all open and ongoing investigations. You will perform system monitoring, remote and on-site diagnostics, and troubleshooting, as well as manage a range of Azure responsibilities, including Azure Active Directory, role-based access control, subscriptions and governance, storage, compute resources, VMs, containers, App Services, virtual networking, load balancing, and backup and recovery.
Your knowledge and experience should include previous work with Microsoft Azure and relevant Microsoft Certifications (e.g., AZ104, AZ305, AZ700). You should have a clear understanding of Cloud Security Best Practices, Performance Monitoring, along with experience in Cloud-based Solution Implementation. A broad understanding of IT, covering applications, systems, networks, and databases is important.
Essential experience with Containerisation and Orchestration, specifically Kubernetes, is required, and beneficial experience with API Management and Azure Monitor is desirable. Strong scripting knowledge (Terraform, Helm-Charts, YAML) and familiarity with tools like Visual Studio Code and Git are necessary. Good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code with Azure and observability tools such as Prometheus or Loki will make you a perfect candidate.
The ability to digest new information and apply critical thinking, possibly demonstrated by a university degree or equivalent, is important, as is attention to detail and accurate record-keeping. ITIL Foundation certification is advantageous. You must have excellent communication skills with a professional manner at all times, and be willing to travel (domestic and international).
