Data Engineer

Broster Buchanan are partnered with a well known UK brand name who are focused on helping people and doing good, and are looking for 1 mid/senior level Azure Data Engineer as they set up their data engineer function and architecture. The ideal candidate will be towards the senior end with 3-5+ years of experience.

This role will be on a hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite in the client's amazing Alfreton office and 2 days remote. On offer is a salary of £50k - £68k + bonus and a fantastic benefits package, as outlined below.

Responsibilities:

  • Help set up and deliver the future direction of the client's strategy and approach to the management, storage and usage of data
  • Collaborate with their wider technology and business teams to ensure goals and visions are aligned and achieved
  • Help with setting up their data warehousing and lake processes, including collaborating with their architecture teams to figure out what that will look like
  • At times, guide and mentor the junior data engineers within the team, reviewing their ideas, providing feedback and identifying their knowledge gaps to support their development

Requirements:

  • Strong experience with setting up and using big data storage solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes or data lake houses
  • Able to build and demonstrate a solid understanding of the concepts of real time data streaming, batch data processing and data transformation processes
  • Must have experience with Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Kafka and Python
  • Any exposure to data migration/ETL would be highly beneficial, with SQL/T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS, as there is a large data migration project in the near future
  • Any previous experience with setting up data governance and processes would be highly beneficial
