Architectural Designer CAD Surveyor

A leading company is seeking a design-focused Architectural CAD Designer to join their in-house Estates Department. The role involves supporting the Head of CAD in providing specialist architectural design input, graphics, and visualisations for various projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistency in standard, layout, and styling of drawings, and compile a resource library of textures and 3D modelling assets.
  • Support the CAD and Marketing departments in producing sales plans, graphic presentations, and 3D visuals for brochures and marketing purposes.
  • Create CAD drawings in AutoCAD (and/or Revit) for surveys, schemes, planning packs, working drawings, presentation drawings, and legal plans under senior team members' guidance.
  • Independently or collaboratively carry out measured building and site surveys using traditional techniques.
  • Prepare concept designs, feasibility proposals, and site appraisals.
  • Assist in the design and specification of new builds and refurbishment projects in line with current guidelines, standards, and regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Provide effective teamwork and support to colleagues.
  • Respond to emergencies, supporting business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Record and report business activities accurately.

Person Specification:

  • Strong communication skills to provide and receive necessary information promptly.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills related to measurement and drawing.
  • Interest in staying updated with relevant legislation, regulations, and technological advancements.
  • Experience as a CAD Designer or in a similar role within the property industry, architecture, or a multi-disciplinary practice. Candidates from interiors or product design backgrounds are also considered.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD from a Built Environment perspective.
  • Experience with Revit and SketchUp for 3D modelling, and Enscape, VRay, or similar for visualisations and VR.
  • Knowledge of graphics editing and presentation software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and PowerPoint.
  • Beneficial but not essential: experience with other drawing forms, LIDAR scanning processes, or point cloud workflow implementation using Autodesk Recap (or similar).

Qualifications / Training:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent (or working towards it).
  • Knowledge of Database (Qube/Horizon) is beneficial.
  • Experience using SharePoint is useful but not essential.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and other computer resources.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Familiarity with modern LiDAR-based scanning tools is an advantage.
