Leeds & Bradford Airport are one of the fastest growing regional airports in the UK and are going through an exciting period of expansion and growth. The airport is under investment to refurbish terminals, create additional space to support the growth strategy and have recently invested in a new people system. This transformation will enable them to modernise their processes to manage the growth plans and satisfy the needs of customers and stakeholders whilst streamlining the employee experience. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to play a critical part in one of Yorkshires biggest infrastructure projects with a real opportunity to impact the learning culture for Leeds Bradford Airport.

The Role;

Talent & Learning Manager 12 Month FTC

Reporting to the HR Director and alongside a support HR team, the Talent & Learning Manager will manage and oversee the business approach to Learning and Development whilst identifying business wide learning opportunities and designing engaging learning content. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning journey and will be instrumental in building key stakeholder networks across the business. You will work closely with the leadership team and Heads of Departments to understand the learning needs & capability gaps whilst analysing current and future learning opportunities. This is a hands on role that will require designing and delivering impactful internal training programs such as senior leadership insights, front line capability training etc whilst also partnering with external providers when needed. This role is crucial in creating a culture of continuous learning and talent development within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with HR, department heads, and external vendors to ensure training programs align with business objectives.
  • Communicate & influence effectively with all levels of the organisation to promote training opportunities and gather feedback.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in learning and development.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify training requirements and gaps.
  • Work with external providers to develop appropriate programs and solutions
  • Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions, workshops, and seminars where appropriate.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to procure and/or create high-quality training materials tailored to various learning styles and needs.
  • Ensure all content aligns with organisational values, goals and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain and update content on the newly created LMS, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Generate and analyse LMS reports to track training progress and effectiveness.
  • Implement and manage talent development programs, including leadership development, mentorship, and career progression initiatives.
  • Work with managers to identify high-potential employees and create individual development plans.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the organisation.

The ideal candidate with be able to demonstrate;

  • Experience of leading and implementing a L&D agenda ideally with a business that may not have had a previous history of learning culture ideally within large, complex organisations.
  • Excellent communication skills and hands on facilitator, but able to think strategically & creatively to spot opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Able to demonstrate leading on a L&D strategy from the early stages.
  • Experience of proving L&D initiatives within shift based organisations would also be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in delivering both in-person and virtual training.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with e-learning development tools and LMS platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organisational Development, or a related field is an advantage
  • Certification in training and development (e.g., CPTD, CPLP) would also be advantageous.
