Senior Small Works and Security Project Engineer

Job Description:

Our client is the largest independent fire and security company in the UK,

with many high-profile clients. Established over 20 years and recognised in the Fast Track 100 as

an influential company.

With over 8000 customers nationwide, they pride ourselves on the highest standard of work, in line

with our accreditations.

They are looking for a Senior Small Works and Security Engineer to join our ever-expanding team

based in the Midlands to supervise engineers working to complete Security, Fire Alarm and

Electrical installations and remedial works. A certain amount of travel will be necessary around

the UK.

Responsibilities (General)

  • The individual will be responsible for mentoring and quality monitoring the work of the

wider team whilst also undertaking more complex tasks themselves.

  • The individual will be responsible co-ordinating with the Small Works PM to ensure works

are completed, on time, in budget, documents approved / issued and to the client's

satisfaction.

  • The individual will be also take an element of responsibility in co-ordinating and ensure

quality / compliance are achieved on the Security projects across the Installation department.

Again, ensuring works are completed, on time, in budget, documents approved / issued and to

the client's satisfaction.

  • The individual must behave and present themselves in a manner that reflects well on the

Company.

  • Be willing to mentor and train other members of the Team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Experience in the industry having undertaking both new and remedial installation works

associated with the following:

  • CCTV
  • Access Control
  • Intruder Alarm
  • Mentor and assist with supervision of less competent team members.
  • Ability to work safely and responsibly to avoid injury, damage, and loss to property and/or

materials.

  • Able to work closely with team members, ensuring time managed effectively, works are

prioritised under own initiative.

  • Previous experience working in a customer-based environment.
  • Understanding of the need to complete correct documentation accurately for each job, in line

with company and client procedure.

  • Carry out surveys on customer premises when required.
  • Hold a clean driving licence.
  • Motivated
  • Ability to lift and climb ladders safely.

Responsibilities (Fire)

  • Experience of installing and commissioning various Life Safety systems would be of benefit

but not essential:

  • Fire alarm
  • Disabled alarm and Disabled refuge
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Overseeing Small Works, configuring, and commissioning Life Safety system amendments.
  • Validating the designing and configuration of life safety amendments
  • Configuring / commissioning hardware and software components of life safety systems
  • Testing and troubleshooting life safety systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Providing training to end-users on how to use life safety systems.
  • Able to configure and programme life safety systems.

Responsibilities (Security)

  • Overseeing Installation, configuring, and commissioning CCTV, Access Control, Intercoms

onto computer networks, and other equipment used in differing security systems.

  • Overseeing Installation and commissioning of other security systems such as alarms or

associated control equipment

  • Understanding of interconnectivity between various security systems
  • Validating the designing and configuration of access control, CCTV, and other security

systems to meet the specific needs of our clients.

  • Configuring hardware and software components of access control systems, conventional and

IP.

  • Testing and troubleshooting access control systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Providing training to end-users on how to use access control systems.
  • Able to configure and programme access control systems.
  • Assist in the Management of project schedules and budgets to meet project requirements.
  • Manage and monitor sub-contractors.
  • Function as a technical specialist.
  • Drive product roadmap and initiatives and participate in technical design.
  • Resolve systemic issues providing short, medium and long-term solutions.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and general support of systems.
  • Provide design inputs and reviews of other projects.
  • Develop strategic plans to provide effective product development.
  • Provide support for scoping of work tasks and budgets.
  • Perform and maintain work to required standards and client expectations.
  • Practice and always comply with safety standards.

The successful candidate will have

You will be conversant with various British Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to Fire and

Security.

You will also have experience of multiple communications protocols from differing manufacturers

utilising LAN / WAN and POE.

This will include knowledge of servers and networking with some working understanding of

Microsoft operating systems (2003, 2008, Windows XP, Windows 7 Windows 10).

Experience with a variety of switches and routers, wireless extenders, some experience with SQL,

XML, MS Office would be a huge bonus along with experience on integrated systems, and

client/server access control systems and conversant with IP/Analogue and digital security systems.
