Role: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Rye, East Sussex
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 + car & package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering a £20m flood defence project in Rye, East Sussex. The Quantity Surveyor will play an integral role on the project, managing a number of subcontract packages and supporting the onsite Senior QS with the overall commercial and financial management of the project. The successful Quantity Surveyor can expect a position that includes hybrid working, great career prospects, excellent work life balance and a generous salary and supporting package.
The Quantity Surveyor will be working closely with the Senior QS and Commercial Manager, carrying out a number of duties including:
- Preparing, managing and monitoring project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled throughout each stage of the project life cycle
- Administration of the contract including managing variations, claims and disputes
- Provide accurate measurement and valuation of completed works including preparation of bills of quantities, schedules of rate, site measurements and verifying subcontractors work
- Manage the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers
- Ensure accurate and up to date records are maintained and show financial transactions, project progress and contract changes
Quantity Surveyors considering this opportunity will need:
- Previous experience working for a large main contractor or specialist subcontractor on a heavy civil engineering project. Candidates with previous experience working on coastal and flood defences will be at an advantage
- A degree in Quantity Surveying (or similar)
- Experience using the NEC forms of contract
- Excellent communication skills
