Job Title: Senior UX/UI Designer (User Experience/User Interface)

Reporting To: Head of Product Management

Location: London or Basingstoke (Hybrid working available: 2-3 days per week in the office)

The job in a nutshell

Customer and User experience are at the heart of BB&R as we strive to provide experiences that customers love.

As an experienced UX/UI designer, you will collaborate with CX Manager, UI designer, Product Owners & Developers to understand our customer's problems and design digital solutions that solve them, delivering pixel perfect designs & flows to development teams.

The current period will involve delivery into our Digital Rebuild Programme where you will take a pragmatic approach to balance experience with technical constraints, risk and business needs.

Internal: Head of Product Management, CX Manager, Product Owners & Developers

External: Software development agencies' UX/UI designers and developers

What you will do

  • Simplify highly complex user journeys, making it easier for users to find what they're

looking for, through improved information design and strong focus on mobile

  • Understand & consider our wider ecosystem, including offline experiences when designing concepts
  • Apply wireframing and prototyping techniques to rapidly build & validate responsive experiences
  • Take a pragmatic approach to balance the ideal experience with making trade-offs considering technical constraints, risk and business needs
  • Apply atomic design principles to create functional, accessible and scalable patterns
  • Ensure final designs are on-brand, bringing our luxury & heritage brand to life with a premium aesthetic
  • Work closely with architects, business analysts and developers to ensure your solutions are technically feasible and communicated effectively
  • Be responsible for delivering pixel perfect design, from defining detailed specifications for developers, through to QA and launch
  • Deliver measured improvements to customer experiences across web, mobile app and internal systems
  • Collaborate with external design & development partners, including leading our external designers brought on to scale up and down the design team as needed
  • Build a strong working relationship with our CX Manager to interpret CX challenges & co-design customer journeys

Your Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience building cross device experiences ideally for high-end, luxury brands
  • Comfortable working with analytics (Quant) & customer research (Qual)
  • Strong understanding of Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Navigation, Interface & Information design
  • Expert in creating responsive UI designs, with an understanding of modern platform design standards & frameworks (grid systems, spacing etc)
  • Strong understanding of interaction design principles, looking beyond the static to define smooth in-page interactions and transitions,
  • Strong understanding of typography, colour, layout and visual design principles
  • Proficient in using Figma, and working with and contributing to pattern libraries
  • Proficient in designing for accessibility, and are familiar with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and how to meet these criteria
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS, enough to understand how development techniques impact design and to help communication with developers
  • Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience working in cross-functional agile teams
  • Proficient in conducting competitor analysis across our sector and the luxury market.
