team as we gear up for the biggest-ever investment programme in the water industry.

Data is at the heart of our asset management decision-making, and the System Insights team provides the data, tools and insight required to improve decision-making and steer investment so it can maximise the benefit to customers and the environment. While we work with data across all business areas, our focus is on understanding the capacity of our systems—current and future—and assessing our assets' environmental and customer impact. We provide the foundational evidence to build multibillion-pound plans and strategies such as Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans and Price Reviews.

What you'll be doing as an

Insight GIS Specialist

  • You'll be working alongside a team of hydraulic modellers, analysts, and other GIS specialists to support the timely delivery of actionable insight to the Asset Strategy and Planning Community.
  • You'll provide insight into key programmes, including Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans and Price Reviews.
  • You'll work within the team, helping to source data and build pipelines, ensuring we use the best available data from across the business.
  • You'll conduct advanced spatial analysis and modelling to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
  • You'll develop automated workflows to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • You'll use visualisation techniques and develop self-service tools to streamline the delivery of outputs.
  • You'll be an innovator, utilising the latest technologies to work with data in new ways. Identifying solutions to new and existing problems and finding ways to streamline existing processes.

Hybrid–Reading Sewage Treatment Works: you must go into the office 1-2 days a week.

36 hours a week, Monday through Friday.

What you should bring to the role

  • Worked in a data-driven environment as a GIS specialist or in a similar role.
  • Prior background in the water industry or a related field and familiarity with network infrastructure and asset data.
  • Highly proficient in using GIS software and tools, including Esri ArcGIS.
  • Strong knowledge of spatial analysis and visualisation techniques.
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of automating workflows within ArcGIS Model Builder, Data interoperability/FME or Databricks.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Ruby, SQL or R.
  • Background of remote sensing, image processing, or LiDAR data.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies.
