Assistant Accountant - 15-Month FTC

Adele Carr Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a well-regarded organisation in Liverpool who are seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant on a 15-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive finance team, working across both UK and US entities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial discipline and delivering accurate reporting, while supporting senior stakeholders and contributing to wider finance-led projects.
**About the Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager and working alongside three colleagues within the Financial Accounting team, you'll take ownership of a wide range of responsibilities including:
- Assisting with the preparation of period-end management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journals
- Producing monthly cost variance analysis
- Providing financial support to budget holders and project leads
- Leading quarterly spend reviews to support informed decision-making
- Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and posting depreciation journals
- Preparing nominal bill recharges to other entities and reviewing staff expense claims
- Supporting US tax reporting and assisting with budgeting and reforecasting processes
- Completing quarterly and annual ONS surveys
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining controls
- Supporting the year-end audit with documentation and reporting
- Providing occasional cover for colleagues within the finance function
**What We're Looking For
This role would suit someone with experience in a similar finance or accounting support position, who enjoys being hands-on and working as part of a team. Key skills and attributes include:
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of financial controls
- Organised and proactive approach to work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Adaptable, flexible, and a motivated team player
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
