School Admissions Coordinator Required for Senior School in St Albans

The Admissions Coordinator role is part of the Marketing, Admissions and Events team, and as such shares the responsibility for ensuring that the process by which children join the school is as effective as possible. You will have day to day contact with all those hoping to join the School, including prospective parents, students, and the Schools from which they come. You will support the management and coordination of all contact between potential parents and the School from the time of first enquiry to the date of admission. You will also work closely with other areas and staff of the School, such as the Head, the Deputy Heads, the Housemasters/Housemistresses, the SENDCo and the Heads of Department. This is as much of a sales role as an administrative role.

Working hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm

About the role:

Our administrator duties can include:

  • The management of the 11+, 13+ and ad hoc admissions process for those making enquiries to the School, using our digital systems and through face to face, telephone, written and emailed communication
  • Supporting the rest of the marketing, admissions and events team by being flexible and picking up and supporting some areas outside your direct responsibility (e.g. 16+ admissions and International Admissions), when others are on leave, travelling overseas, or sick etc.
  • As part of the marketing, admissions and events team, help with the organisation and coordination of admissions and marketing events, including Open Mornings, Scholarship Days, Induction Events, Assessment Days etc.
  • Responding to enquiries and supplying information about the School in the appropriate manner either electronically, face to face, or by telephone
  • When a pupil leaves - notifying relevant parties (External/Internal) immediately

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Accurate and fluent spoken and written English
  • Team Player with a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to work in a busy, creative office and cope with times of high pressure
  • Ability to be suitably tactful and diplomatic whilst maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality
  • Excellent IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn new systems quickly with training, but also self-direction
  • Experience in using databases/management information systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Ability to foster good long-term relationships with parents, staff, feeder schools and agents
  • Must be fully supportive of the School Mission and Aims
