We have a brilliant opportunity available for an HR generalist looking to develop their skills as an HR Advisor. Joining a fantastic SME professional services firm, the new HR Advisor will play a key role supporting the HR Director in delivering a full HR service across the organisation and have responsibilities including supporting and advising managers on employee relations cases (escalating where necessary), updating and writing policies and procedures, assisting with recruitment process and campaigns, managing the HR system and records, writing/enhancing the employee handbook.

This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to develop their HR experience and grow in confidence as an HR Advisor/HR Generalist. CIPD qualification and some direct experience resolving employee relations cases will be required up front but support will be given as required to develop your skills.

Based out of the client's offices near Guildford and with very occasional travel to their London offices, the position is being offered on a 9 month fixed term contract with a view to transition to permanent employment. Hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 from home. Part-time hours can be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high quality, transactional HR support and query resolution to employees, managers and third parties
  • Delivering and developing HR processes and procedures; some already established and requiring process improvement, others requiring design and implementation.
  • Employee relations & performance management
  • Employee benefits administration
  • Maintain and accurately update employee files and HR system
  • Provide assistance to the HR Director on projects as required
  • Recruitment activities from resourcing, advertising, short-listing and coordinating interviews, and attending if required.
  • Manage recruitment agency relationship and agree/negotiate rates
  • Management of the in-house pre-employment screening process
  • Manage sickness and annual leave tracking
  • Travel to London will be required

Skills & Experience

  • Ideally CIPD Level 5 qualified
  • Experience of managing employee relations procedures
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to meet deadlines
  • A flexible or adaptable approach
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to retain knowledge
  • Strong relationship building skills, with the proven track record to effectively influence key stakeholders
  • Positive and 'can-do' attitude.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft office packages
