My client is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Bid Manager to successfully manage and elevate the existing Bid Team. This role is crucial in driving the business development efforts through winning team leadership and managing the bid process from inception to submission.

Role:

As a Bid Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of the bid process, as well as playing a key role client retention and the attainment of new clients. You will be responsible for achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and driving the bid process.

The role will more specifically entail:

Bid Process Management:

  • Manage the end-to-end bid process, ensuring all bids are submitted on time by your team and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Develop and implement all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes.
  • Ensure all proposals adhere to bid specifications and requirements.
  • Maintain involvement through the presentation and negotiation stages, providing feedback and implementing lessons learned.

Bid Team Management:

  • Assemble and manage a Bid Team, coordinating input from key stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-ones, six-monthly reviews, and manage holiday and sickness requests.
  • Identify training and development needs, gaining HR/Finance approval, and organising for your team.

Strategy and Development:

  • Develop a clear win strategy for each bid in collaboration with the Sales lead.
  • Contribute to value proposition development, opportunity qualification, win strategy, commercial discussions, and solution delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement through post-bid reviews both internally and with clients.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of bids, ensuring all products/services are included in the final proposal.
  • Manage risk tracking and management throughout the bid process.
  • Coordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission.
  • Manage all communications via relevant portals, ensuring they are up to date with company information.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Contribute to the written proposal, ensuring compliance with corporate branding guidelines, standard formatting, and quality standards.
  • Consolidate sections/documents developed by team members into the required tender format.
  • Maintain and back up master document sets.
  • Keep the Tender library and sales database up to date.

Requirements

To be successful as the Bid Manager, you will have proven experience in bid management, with a track record of successful results and equally a strong knowledge of bid management processes, techniques, and best practices.

You will also present:

  • Background in solution selling and experience in bid management from opportunity identification through to project delivery.
  • Proven team leadership.
  • Excellent commercial understanding and risk management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to succinctly make your point in presentations and bid documentation, a high attention to detail, and assertion in requesting information from colleagues within set timeframes.
  • Brilliant organisational abilities, whilst also able to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities, handle multiple and changing timescales, and stay on top of a varied and rapidly changing workload.
  • Offer a forward/critical thinking approach with the ability to quickly identify and overcome potential hurdles and objections, creatively directing the prospect's needs to the company's solution.
