Our client is an international PR and digital marketing agency

As the business has developed, it is now looking for its first in-house Finance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the finance function of the business as it grows. You will be responsible for the end-to-end finance function from daily transactional data entry through to management reporting and providing the Senior Management Team with commercial support.

The role would suit someone who is used to working in a sole role and is methodical and analytical.

The role of the Finance Manager:

  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and bookkeeping of all transactions on a real time basis.
  • Prepare and deliver management accounts and financial reporting to SMT and Directors on a monthly and quarterly basis respectively - including cash flow forecast, P&L, debtors, creditors and performance against targets
  • Oversee cost management: correctly managing accruals, cost reconciliation against job codes, alerting to any areas of over / underspend and an annual review of overheads
  • Work alongside Account Management team to track and approve purchases to client budgets
  • Work with Account Management team to invoice work regularly to agreed invoicing schedules agreed by client / project, reporting against monthly targets and handling client PO's via different vendor systems.
  • Manage team expenses sign off process and act as central point of contact for credit card management (ie setting up new cards / closing old ones)
  • Establish and run an efficient debtors system sharing client statements and ensuring outstanding debts are recovered and paid to agreed payment terms, escalating any issues to Directors for resolution.
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Provide real time insightful information and expectations to senior management and Directors, to aid long-term and short-term decision making
  • Provide data on financial performance for award entries
  • Manage and submit VAT Returns, and prepare EoY accounts for Accountant review and Corporation Tax submission
  • Oversee any external stakeholders for tax preparation, auditing, banking, insurance, investments, and other financial needs as necessary
  • Manage use of currency accounts to maximise currency gains, and minimise currency conversion losses
  • Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company
  • Present reports to any board members, external stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings as directed.
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  • Establish and maintain financial policies, controls and procedures for the company
  • Understand and adhere to UK financial regulations and legislation
  • Research and analyse financial reports and market trends
  • Approach the role with a tax efficient approach
  • Support the MD in client contract negotiations to ensure standard terms are not exceeded and are based on a credit check of the new client
  • Assist the onboarding of new clients, via vendor forms / details / platform sign ups
  • Manage the financial side of HR - processing bonuses, managing P45s etc as well as adhoc industry pay parity benchmarking
  • Overseeing any required financial negotiations / contract reviews with key suppliers ie office provider, telco provider (Zoom), tech providers (MuckRack, Slack etc), pension providers, insurance providers insurance, travel insurance
  • Ad hoc projects as may be required from time to time e.g. new operating policies

Finance Manager Key Attributes Required:

  • Part qualified ACCA/CIMA or similar
  • 7+ years' experience in a finance role
  • Proven experience managing the day-to-day financial activities of a busy creative business
  • Highly organised, confident, solid communication skills
  • Strong understanding of business principles and practices.
  • Xero advanced level experience desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • British Citizenship or Leave to Remain
