JOB PURPOSE:

The metrology department are responsible for measurement activities. This includes the measurement of parts, sub-assemblies, tubs, bodies and finished vehicles, torque assurance and the calibration of all measurement equipment.

The purpose of this role is to create measurement programmes using Camio software, carry out measurement using twin column, bridge machines and Faro arms and complete reports using Polyworks and PiWeb.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interrogate measurement results, create concise summaries of product status and an understanding of the measurement result's impact on production.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Programme and operate bridge machines, twin columns, and Faro arm.
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes including pressing, hemming, casting, injection and compression moulding, and machining.
  • Key relationships of this role will be across the Quality department including Technicians, Engineers, and Senior Managers. Also with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Product Development and Suppliers.
  • The individual shall be responsible for working with other Aston Martin departments and with Suppliers to support in resolving quality issues.
  • Will need to comply with internal and external procedures to ensure satisfactory completion of both internal and external audits. Failure to comply with these procedures will result in non-conformance during audits.
  • Good understanding of Customer requirements in an ultra-high luxury brand. The role will require working between AML plants in both St Athan and Gaydon and will therefore require occasional travel between sites.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of an appropriate automotive apprenticeship/engineering qualification (city & guilds level 3 + or equivalent) is essential.
  • Twin column and bridge machine operation experience.
  • Faro arm operation experience.
  • Programming/operation of equipment using Camio software experience.
  • Experience using PiWeb Monitor and preferably Designer too.
  • Experience using Polyworks.
  • Computer literate.
  • Clear and concise report writing skills.
  • Use of hand measurement tools such as Vernier, Micrometer, slip gauges.
  • Mobile role requiring individual to travel throughout the facility, several times per day often carrying parts such as doors, bonnets. Some elements of the role will require tasks to be completed on/near the production line and using mechanical equipment.
  • Full driving licence is required.
  • Able to travel at short notice within the UK to other Aston Martin sites.
