Job Title: Multiskilled Engineer

About the Company: Our client manufactures acoustic felt, producing Air-lay felt over two production lines for the automotive and construction industries. The successful candidate will work in a factory environment with resins and fibrous dust, including cottons, glass, hemp, and other fibres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with all employees, maintaining a high-performance and flexible attitude.
  • Perform engineering maintenance and servicing of site equipment, including air handling equipment, compressors, rotating drums, large ovens, fibre opening equipment, ventilation systems, motors, burners, hydraulic presses, and cutting systems.
  • Suggest and promote process improvements for machinery and processes.
  • Conduct engineering maintenance for the building.
  • Support ongoing and new projects.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commit to ensuring production lines remain active, including overtime if necessary.
  • Manage stock and spares to ensure availability when needed.
  • Participate in training for new skills and tasks as part of Personal Development Plans.
  • Attend meetings/trials where engineering input is required.
  • Own basic tools for the role (preferred).

Requirements:

  • Experience in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment preferred.
  • Welding and fabrication experience required.
  • Ability to identify electrical faults and work from circuit diagrams.
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical systems.
  • Self-motivated with effective workload prioritization skills.
  • Commitment to overtime as needed to ensure continuous factory operation.
  • Impeccable time management.
  • Flexibility for weekend production maintenance cover (1 weekend per month).
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical & Electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of process automation equipment, including PLC systems (e.g., Siemens), preferred (training provided).
  • Proactive approach to fault finding, prevention, and continuous improvement.
  • Previous engineering or related field experience required.

Hours:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • 8-hour shift rotation: 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm
  • Overtime as required
  • 1 weekend per month

Pay and Benefits:

  • Basic hourly rate: £17.78
  • Attendance Bonus: £18.36 per hour
  • Overtime rates: £23.71 - £35.57 per hour
  • Annual salary: £38,188.00
  • Additional leave, company pension, free on-site parking

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shifts
  • Day shifts
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime and weekend availability

Location:

  • Nottingham (must reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work)

Experience:

  • Electrical Engineering: 3 years (required)
  • Mechanical Engineering: 3 years (required)
