Accounts Assistant

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our clients team, acting both individually and collaboratively to manage scheme bank accounts and prepare accounts for trust-based pension schemes. The ideal candidate will monitor and manage workloads effectively to meet the needs of both members and clients.
Day to day of the role:
- Daily input and/or authorisation of electronic bank payments.
- Writing cheques and arranging for signatures as requested.
- Paying in cheques received to the bank.
- Inputting bank transactions onto the accounts system.
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliations and historic cashflows as requested.
- Submitting BACS files and downloading BACS reports.
- Arranging audits and maintaining files for pension scheme annual accounts preparation for simple schemes.
- Sending out year-end requests to investment managers and AVC providers.
- Organising membership reconciliation from the administrator and updating the Trustees' report.
- Preparing draft report & accounts and liaising with auditors for clearance.
- Liaising with Trustees for review and signature of accounts.
- General administrative duties including filing, scanning, photocopying, telephone work, and data input.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Varied, general accounts experience, including proficiency with accounting software.
- Good telephone manner with excellent communication and verbal skills.
- Literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and cope with high volumes of work.
- Must be a team player.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Educated to GCSE grade C and above and/or Higher Education.
- Working towards professional accountancy examinations is desirable.
