Communications Executive - 6 Months FTC

To work to the Senior PR and Communications advisor and support the Communications team to deliver effective and intelligent communications for the Octavia Group and to lead on projects that align to our communications strategy.

You will be required to deliver plans and campaigns involving a multiple channels to support the Communications strategy, in keeping with Octavia's brand and mission. You will be expected to provide ideas, advice and guidance about communications approach and tactics to colleagues outside the Communications team in alignment with our vision to continue to build a credible and consistent reputation. You will assist in evolving the means and methods of communicating with a range of stakeholders to improve effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

GENERAL

  • Support the Senior Communications and PR Advisor in delivering all aspects of the Communication plan, including both internal and external communications
  • Support the team with dealing with press enquiries and seeking opportunities to generate positive press coverage locally and nationally
  • Contribute to developing our approach to communications for various stakeholders (residents, service users, partners, stakeholders, general public and internal staff)
  • Act as an advisor to internal colleagues on matters of communications and approach to promotions, ensuring alignment to key messages and brand mission
  • Act as a ‘brand guardian' ensuring utilisation of the brand guidelines and templates; writing style guide; appropriate and consistent language, tone and terminology
  • Develop and deliver marketing and other related communications materials and campaigns, which may include newsletters, leaflets, emails, PowerPoint presentations, videos and posters
  • To positively promote the work of the Communications team and to represent Octavia in a positive light internally and externally and to deliver a reliable responsive and respectful service.

COPYWRITING / CONTENT

  • Write and edit effective and appropriate copy for various channels including newsletters, reports, websites and promotional materials
  • Assist in developing and upholding a consistent and appropriate ‘tone of voice' for the Octavia Group
  • Assist in updating our websites and other on and offline channels (training will be provided)

PR

  • Help to maximise possible PR opportunities, draft press materials, source appropriate images and liaise with internal colleagues to gain appropriate sign off before ‘selling' stories in and following the opportunity up
  • Assist the Senior Communications and PR Advisor communications in handling urgent and reactive communications. Identify issues that could potentially damage the organisation's reputation and support with handling

ONLINE

  • Support the team with publishing media releases and messages across our internal and external online channels

Requirements

Experience

  • Extensive experience of writing good quality and engaging copy for different communications channels
  • Experience of gathering relevant information and case studies for various communications channels
  • Experience of generating positive press and media coverage and media crisis management
  • Experience of delivering successful campaigns and liaising with stakeholders
  • Experience of producing on and offline materials

Knowledge/Skills

  • Good IT skills (Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/Word)
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Knowledge of email distribution, online survey tools and media monitoring software, e.g.Mailchimp/ Survey Monkey
  • Understanding of the not-for profit sector and housing industry

Qualification

  • Degree or other relevant communications qualification and 4 years experience

The salary for this role is £41,000 with up to 10% pension contribution.
