Stark Building Materials UK are searching for a new Category Supply Chain Manager to be based in Coventry with a focus on Timber products.

Location: Coventry CV3 2TT

This position will be responsible for defining and delivering the demand planning strategy and maximising supply chain efficiency across the product portfolio.

Supply Chain relationships and economics are pivotal to the success of this role and will be managed using related KPI's, analytics and insights to manage strategic supply chain partnerships and initiatives with suppliers, aligned to business objectives.

Product availability is a critical indicator of success through effective forecasting and aggregation of demand to develop and enhance supplier performance.

Effective process management is essential, notably across the product lifecycle milestones from new product introduction, promotions, and exit.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimise efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
  • Influence Category strategies with effective insights to develop supplier service and optimise performance objectives. Utilising effective commercial viability assessments across areas such as cleanse agreements, route to market and cost to serve.
  • Develop and deliver supply chain stocking strategies from branch ranging to distribution centres that deliver business objectives to agreed targets across stock budget, availability and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Develop and set supply chain related KPIs, with reporting and analysis to deliver key results and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain forecast accuracy.
  • Manage and mitigate risks to supply with effective supplier management and planning to protect supply and sales.
  • Support branch operations with implementation of key activities and supply issues.
  • Develop opportunities to leverage tactical stock investments based on commercial benefit, spend and allocation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Supply chain background with demonstrable experience of building effective supplier relationships to deliver continued supply chain benefit.
  • Strong understanding of Timber Supply Chain processes
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly IT literate in Demand Forecasting & Inventory Management methods utilising ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with evidence of technical proficiency in forecasting with a deep understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Commercially astute with proven and demonstrable ability to understand customer and business requirements by applying business acumen.
  • Strong planning capability to manage and deliver strategies and process across multiple departments and external stakeholders.
  • Provide evidence of operational capability managing product lifecycle events across new product introduction, range optimisation, promotion, and exit.
  • Strong evidence of delivering availability improvements within stock budgets.
  • Demonstrate hands-on operational knowledge and experience of delivering service level strategies and tactics then managing their impact against financial and availability targets.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Knowledge of builder's merchant business model and markets.
  • Practical knowledge of Relex (and/or other) supply chain planning software**.**
