Electronics Engineer (Full-Time)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic team. The role involves designing electronics that meet challenging specifications for innovative IoT insect monitoring devices. You will contribute to the development of new products and the enhancement of existing ones, working closely with a talented, multidisciplinary team that includes firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers and scientists. Our products have a significant impact on customers globally.

The ideal candidate is someone who can independently navigate complex challenges and deliver results with minimal supervision. You should be an excellent team player, highly motivated, and capable of managing deadlines and priorities effectively. Success in this role requires adaptability, a proactive approach to identifying and addressing rapidly changing needs, and the ability to follow and improve rigorous processes to ensure the creation of high-reliability products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Circuit Design, PCB Layout, Prototyping, and Bench Testing

  • Establish and maintain DRC processes

  • Conduct thorough PCB reviews and debugging

  • Organize the Manufacture of Prototype Electronics

  • Support Production PCB Manufacture

  • Manage EMC and Safety Approvals Processes

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a 2:1 or above
  • 3+ years of experience in electronics development
  • Hands-on experience in PCB design and debugging
  • Proficiency with testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
  • Basic embedded firmware skills (C, C++)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Design experience for low (battery) power operation
  • RF design and testing expertise
  • Knowledge of environmental protection and weatherproofing techniques
  • Experience with compliance testing for electronic products

Location

This role requires a blend of CAD work and hands-on prototyping, so the ideal candidate will be able to work on-site in Cambridge, UK, five days a week. However, after the probation period, there is flexibility to work from home up to 20% of the time.
