Job Title: Assistant Financial Accountant
Location: Bury
Pay Bracket: £33,000 - £37,500 + Benefits.
We are working well-established business specialising in manufacturing and distribution to both retail and contract customers based in Bury. They are looking for a credit control professional to join their team.
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a business with excellent working culture and exposure opportunities. This role will report to the financial controller, you will be responsible for providing support to the Accounts division as required, with particular emphasis on month end reporting.
Your main roles and responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Financial Accounting function
- Carry out daily/monthly bank statement reconciliations
- Responsible for processing and paying employee expenses, following the correct process of authorisation
- Provide month end support including preparing, reconciling and posting accruals and prepayments, and fixed assets etc.
- Analyse and understand the P&L and balance sheet, proactively identifying and explaining variances and anomalies as they arise
- Multi-currency weekly cash flow reporting
- Ownership of the fixed assets and lease report
- Provide assistance and support to complete the year end statutory accounts
- Petty cash reconciliations
- Support with completion of monthly UK and foreign VAT returns
- Quarterly update / presentation of supply chain board KPI's
The ideal candidate will have:
- Currently studying toward accounting qualifications (AAT / ACCA / CIMA)
- Have experience of working in an accounting environment including month end tasks, journal entries etc.
- Excellent teamwork
- Persistence and determination
- Thorough attention to detail
- Problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel and Word
