Temporary Housing Accountant job in Somerset
Butler Rose is working with a client who are looking for an interim Service Charge Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis whilst they go through a period of change. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of housing services across Somerset, offering an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
The Role:
As a Service Charge Specialist, you will split your time between managing service charges for homes and leading a joint project with the local authority to align service charge processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Service Charge Management: Administering and overseeing service charges for properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective communication with residents.
- Project Management: Leading the Service Charge Alignment Project to develop a unified policy and system across both organisations.
- Resident Support: Acting as the first point of contact for service charge queries, providing clear and transparent communication.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and best practices
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in managing service charges within housing or property management.
- Strong understanding of housing finance, service charge legislation, and budget management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- A proactive approach to project management and process improvement.
- Preferably a formal accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
