Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant

  • Location: Central London (near Victoria station)
  • Job Type: Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)

A well-established international group of companies in the aviation, energy, property, and manufacturing markets is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/ Assistant Accountant to join their head office finance team. The role is based in spacious luxury offices and offers a mix of in-office and remote work, with Mondays and Fridays being work-from-home days.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Collate multiple bank account data, including foreign currencies, to be imported and posted onto the General Ledger (GL) using Sage templates.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and ensure they agree with the ledgers.
  • Perform manual General Ledger journals using Excel/Sage templates.
  • Bill group entities for monthly or quarterly recharges.
  • Maintain company ledgers, including account creation, month-end and year-end processes, and FX adjustments.
  • Manage Petty cash and Foreign Currency, ensuring agreement to the ledgers.
  • Assist with the payables ledger, covering for absences, making payments, and processing supplier invoices/payments.
  • Execute non-AP payments such as term deposits, loans, and FX deals.
  • Assist with month-end Intra-group ledger balancing and address any queries or discrepancies.
  • Assist with data collation for the group VAT return on a quarterly basis.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Confident double entry bookkeeping skills.
  • Excellent IT and spreadsheet skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word is important; experience in Sage300 is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated and well-organised with a professional, diplomatic, and firm approach.
  • Attention to detail and respect for deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a similar role maintaining multiple company ledgers, including foreign currency transactions, is advantageous.
