Finance Assistant

Finance Assistant - Part Time (25-30 hours over a minimum of 3 days a week)

We have a fantastic opportunity based at our school in Kingston upon Thames for a Finance Assistant to work in our small Finance department alongside the Finance Manager and Management Accountant. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the sales and purchase ledger and preparing the weekly payment run
  • Banking of cash and cheques
  • Weekly bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation of payroll
  • Resolving supplier queries
  • Completion of termly fee billing
  • Assisting with month end close
  • Financial administration (deposits, childcare voucher reconciliations etc)
  • School trip administration
  • Activities administration
  • Direct Debit processing and liaising with our bureau
  • Assisting with year end and audit process
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Manager and Bursar

You will have experience of using commercial accounting software and excellent organisational and administrative skills, together with a flexible can-do attitude and experience of the above tasks. Good Excel skills are essential as well as excellent communication skills and written English. Both will be tested at interview.

This position is offered on an 'all year round' role and therefore the successful candidate will be expected to work throughout the school holidays with the exception of agreed annual leave, which must be taken outside of term-term. Consideration will be given to applicants looking for term time only working however there will be a requirement for an additional 25 days to worked during the school holidays.
