Tax Manager

The Role

Reporting into the Group and International Tax Manager and working on a hybrid basis, duties and responsibilities of the Tax Manager will include:

  • Map out plans to identify and address priority tax issues and to progress maximising any potential VAT recoveries or mitigation of tax issues
  • Support and oversee the VAT team, including ensuring the submission of the quarterly VAT returns and annual Partial Exemption and Capital Goods Scheme adjustments , for the group in line with statutory deadlines, and putting in place process efficiencies; utilising SAP and related reporting tools, MTD software and Microsoft Excel
  • Design and implementation of a new tax training strategy, and enable staff across the company to develop awareness and understanding of tax liability and compliance issues;
  • Maintain technical tax expertise through continuous personal development and attend conferences and training as required.

The Candidate

To be considered for the role we welcome applications from candidates with the following:

  • A recognised professional tax or accountancy qualification or qualified by relevant experience from work e.g. HMRC and/ or professional accountancy firm;
  • Current knowledge, experience and demonstrable application of relevant tax legislation in a large complex organisation;
  • Experience using large ERP systems for analysis and reporting; ideally SAP
  • Must be highly motivated to streamline processes and have experience of identifying and implementing improvements;
  • Knowledge of wider tax issues in the UK and other overseas jurisdictions such as digital taxes and withholding taxes.

Salary & Benefits

In return, the successful Tax Manager will receive the following:

  • £50,000 - £65,000 base salary
  • 26 days holidays
  • Hybrid working patterns from the Leeds office
