Senior Shipping Analyst, Business Planning & Agency Management

Our client a large Shipping Line based in London is seeking an experienced Shipping Analyst. The job purpose is to deal with Project management for our client, owned and Third-Party Agency Network to ensure it is fit for purpose, including Agency Contract Management and Inter-department problem solving under supervision of Assistant Manager. The Primary Duties will be:

Agency Management:

  • Procurement projects of new agents basis business expansion request
  • Assist in projects for termination of existing agencies / set up owned offices.
  • Special focus on Africa Agency Management.
  • To provide support to the Assistant Manager for various projects in all EUA countries

Managing Third-Party Agents in Europe and Africa

  • Making sure that we measure Agency performance through statistics and updating the Third-Party Agent profiles
  • Work closely with relevant Liner departments (EUA F&A/EUA Ops/EUA Marketing) to ensure performance statistics are accurate and reported in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure Agency remuneration is in line with contracts and facilitate any disputes between the Agents and EUA F&A.
  • Monitor Agent structure and ensure Agents are correctly resourced in line with Agents of a similar size and volume.
  • Monitor total Agency costs and high light any irregularities to relevant Liner stakeholders.
  • Identify areas-and make relevant proposals -where cost improvements can be made within Agencies (reduction-value for money)
  • Assist with Business Inspections to Third Party Agency with Internal Audit team under Manager when requested.

Managing Demurrage and Detention Collection in Third Party Agents in Europe and Africa

  • To assist and manage Demurrage and Detention projects in Third Party Agents
  • Demurrage and Detention performance including collection ratio.
  • Communicating with BPIT to deliver proper and necessary training for DMT module to Third Party Agents for assigned projects.
  • Keeping communication with EUA SYM and EUA FA for assigned projects.

The job holder will need to have a wider understanding of the Container Liner Shipping industry and working practices in order to offer appropriate management solutions in all areas of the role. A proven track record for delivering accurate, timely reports would be an advantage. Excellent time management skills. And must have good knowledge of Container Trade and commercial practice. French speaking will be an advantage.
