Interim Finance Director

  • 12 Months Fixed Term Contract or Day-Rate Contract
  • Warwickshire (Hybrid Available)

Our SME-sized Professional Services client is currently seeking a strategic Interim Finance Director to join their team on a 12-month assignment (either via a fixed-term contract or as a day-rate contractor). This role will lead a comprehensive review of the Finance team structure and processes, while also providing overall financial management and reporting support.

Within this position, you will collaborate with key Finance team members to develop a project plan aimed at transforming the Finance team's structure and processes - and then deliver that change. This review will ensure compliance, enhance efficiency, and align with the business's future direction by focusing on high-value work and reducing transactional tasks.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the team at a pivotal moment, contributing to the evolution of financial operations and supporting the development of Finance team members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough review of the Finance team structure and processes in collaboration with key team members, creating a detailed project plan with steps and timelines for transformation.
  • Coach, support, and develop Finance team members, assessing their capabilities and creating development plans to foster their growth as future leaders.
  • Lead and support the coordination, analysis, and reporting of financial performance to enable the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to achieve the business plan.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers.
  • Liaise with auditors to manage year-end accounts production and financial audits, including negotiation of engagement terms, audit process management, and presenting final accounts for approval.
  • Oversee cash and treasury management to maintain liquidity and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risk.
  • Provide management reporting, consolidated accounts, and ensure stewardship and accountability for client monies.
  • Review and ensure adherence to budgets for each practice group and business support team.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA requirements.
  • Engage in detailed financial tasks as needed to support the team.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with significant experience in reviewing financial structures and processes within short timeframes.
  • Expertise in creating and delivering financial and commercial in-year business plans.
  • Excellent relationship management and business partnering skills.
  • Capable of driving operational improvement to enhance efficiencies and revenue growth.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, influencing business direction and decisions.
  • High integrity, commitment to good governance, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Highly motivated, with a passion for excellence and innovation in business growth.

Experience:

  • Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, and dynamic leader with the ability to operate at strategic and operational levels.
  • Proven experience in leading a Finance function as an FD or Head of Finance.
  • Desirable: experience acting as Compliance Officer for Finance & Administration (COFA).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive significant change, transformation, and business performance improvement.

If you are a motivated and strategic finance professional looking to make a significant impact, we invite you to apply and join our client's dynamic team as an Interim Finance Director.
