Housing Enforcement Officer

Manchester City Council is looking for a Housing Enforcement Officer to join the Neighbourhood Services team within the Growth and Neighbourhoods directorate. The role holder will provide high-quality, customer-focused support and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service, enforcing standards and regulating community activity.
Day to Day of the role:
- Support the delivery of the Council's statutory enforcement obligations and liaise with other departments or relevant bodies as necessary.
- Handle requests effectively within designated timescales, maintaining accurate records of investigations, inspections, and meetings.
- Provide technical and legislative advice on the interpretation and enforcement of relevant legislation to officers across Neighbourhood Services.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to develop effective partnerships, ensuring clear communication and engagement with the community and members.
- Interpret complex information to a high standard and communicate potential solutions to relevant parties.
- May be required to undertake management duties, including direct line management or matrix management of a team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified in Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) or willingness to work towards it.
- In-depth knowledge, understanding, and practical application of housing legislation or a degree in Environmental Health or an HNC in Environmental Health.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt style as necessary to ensure information is understood.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and set realistic timescales.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
- Proficiency in using multiple applications, systems, and associated software packages.
