School Administrator / Receptionist

Job Title: School Receptionist / Administrator
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Salary: £12.15 - £12.78 p/hr (Actual salary £23,381.46 - £24,593.83 p/a) depending on experience
Hours: Full time 40 hrs per week, 8am - 4pm. Term time Plus 3 extra weeks (working 42 weeks of the year)

We are currently seeking a School Receptionist / Administrator to join a specialist provider of education and care, supporting students aged 5 - 12 who face challenges associated with additional social, emotional and behaviour needs based in Preston.

The role:

As School Receptionist / Administrator, your role will be to provide an efficient and effective school administration service including the management of the school reception area. The role is very busy and requires lots of organisation and multi-tasking. Full of variety, no two days are the same and you'll be working with a small, friendly and supportive team.

Key duties covering two main areas include:

School Administration

Provide an effective support service which incorporates all aspects of School administration
Recording attendance, processing and composing correspondence, record keeping, data input, arranging meetings, taking minutes,
Handling and recording the day-to-day Finances, HR, Facilities and Site Maintenance, ICT, Health & Safety, Housekeeping and Catering.
Support the SENDCo and therapy team with the planning and paperwork for EHCP reviews
Liaising with staff, collating information, and coordinating with relevant parties.

Reception

First impressions count and you will ensure all staff, pupils and visitors are welcomed to site in a friendly and courteous manner
Oversee the safety and security of the school reception making sure everyone is signed in and out of the building in line with safeguarding policies and protocols

Experience /Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a school environment and/or a busy reception/administration office preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email and web and general office systems
  • It is essential that the person for this role is organised, able to multitask, work flexibly and has a 'can do' approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (at least 5 GCSEs above C or equivalent to include English and Maths)
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to be discreet working with confidential and sensitive information
