Electrical Project Engineer

Hybrid – Working out of Coventry, occasional travel to site

Circa £40,000 - £50,000

We are specialist providers for multimillion £ turnkey solutions, Quarrying, Aggregates, Groundworks, Large Scale Groundworks and Road Construction.

We are involved in interesting projects such as 3 sections of the HS2 rail link and A5 expansion in Northern Ireland, in addition to multimillion £ turnkey quarrying projects. New diverse and challenging projects are coming in the work pipeline, and we need a professional Electrical Project Engineer who is looking for the next step in their career.

Ideally you will be based in the Midlands and have quantifiable experience in major quarrying Turnkey installation works, or construction sectors. You will be working as part of a small team both in the Coventry office, from your home and on site as required.

As the Electrical Project Engineer, you will pay a key part in turning electrical designs into executable projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with various divisional stakeholders to ensure our solutions align with client requirements, adhere to safety standards, maintain quality, meet project timelines, and are commercially sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in value engineering of projects, identifying potential cost overruns, and enacting pre-emptive measures for cost management.
  • Support project procurement timelines, aligning value-centric milestones to optimise project and business cash flow.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with all projects, developing effective risk mitigation strategies to minimise their impact on project execution.
  • Assist with the evaluation of change requests and their impact on project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of project activities, including progress reports, programme adherence, and daily/weekly reporting against milestone activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with designers, maintenance and installation teams, and clients to ensure strong engagement from all parties.
  • Provide regular project updates, communicating applicable milestone progress to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including electrical engineers, technicians, contractors, and subcontractors

Required Experience / Skills:

  • While specific qualifications are not mandatory, a broad and deep knowledge base acquired through a varied career path is essential.
  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering, with a proven track record in project execution and commissioning.
  • Operational and maintenance engineering background, with significant experience in successful plant improvements.
  • Ability to understand machinery operations without direct observation and identify process bottlenecks to suggest and implement improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in interpreting and working with 3D models and design schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning electrical installations and facilitating the transition to full production.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft office packages to include Excel, Project etc.
  • Experience across multiple engineering disciplines is essential – to include electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation.
  • Experience in material handling, heavy industrial machinery, or similar sectors would be advantageous.
