Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Pastoral Support Tutorat our Chichester campus. You will join us on a full time, permanent basisand in return, we will offer a competitive salary pro rata of £26,451 - £28,907 (i.e. £10,365.93 - £11,328.42) per annum.
14.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Days working: Thursday: 8:30am - 17:00 and Friday 8:30am - 16:30pm.
The Pastoral Support Tutor role:

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join our outstanding Pastoral Support team, working on a part time basis, as a Pastoral Support Tutor to provide pastoral and academic support to our full-time learners on a 1:1 and group basis including weekly sessions of the tutorial programme. The work you do as a Pastoral Support Tutor will support and motivate our students to achieve their full potential at college, ensuring they have an outstanding and fulfilling experience at college.
Key Responsibilities of our Pastoral Support Tutor:
- To motivate each individual learner within a caseload and to monitor their progress against their learning goals.
- To encourage each student to engage personal evaluation, reflection and target setting, using value added to measure progression (where appropriate).
- To set, in partnership with individual students, course teams and other stakeholders (including, for example, employers, social care and parents) challenging SMART targets to support progression.
- To fully utilise College information systems to record, monitor and track learners within a cohort of tutees.
- To rigorously track and monitor the attendance of each student within a cohort of tutees across all elements of their programme (including Maths and English as appropriate) and, where necessary, take action to improve poor individual performance. This will include sustained liaison with the student and key stakeholders.
- To rigorously track and monitor the attendance of each student identified ‘at risk' and take appropriate action to rectify poor individual performance.
- Where appropriate, provide individual support through the Student Referral Process in line with the CCG's Positive Behaviour Policy.
- To identify student needs and facilitate access to appropriate services to support achievement, such as additional support, careers advice and the enrichment programme.
- To deliver and facilitate group activities which support the development of personal employability/work readiness skills, knowledge and skills related to the College's Core Values and British Values statement.
Our ideal Pastoral Support Tutor should have the below skills and experience:
- Educated to Level 3
- Level 2 English and Maths
- Experience delivering learning advice to students in a 1:1 or group
- Administrative experience
- Understanding of the study needs and options and progression opportunities for post-16 learners
- Experience supporting students post-16
- The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing
- Mentoring and Coaching skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement
