Transport Planner

The role

You will be creating and implementing fuel delivery schedules in line with all safety, legal and contractual obligations, whilst maintaining exceptional customer service and support to all other operational areas.

Principal Responsibilities

  • To provide a delivery plan which maximises the utilisation of the company fleet, whilst meeting our customers' expectations. Control the use of sub-contractors to ensure that they are used correctly and all costs are controlled and justified.
  • Schedule and review routes/transport schedules and ensure transport is planned cost effectively and to maximum capacity.
  • Producing weekly KPIs as directed by your Line Manager.
  • To establish and develop good working relationships with all internal/external stakeholders, including Transport Ops, drivers, sales and third-party contractors.
  • Maximise resources through effective planning of available resources, including sub contractors
  • To operate the planning/scheduling system to ensure effective utilisation of company and 3rd party resources
  • To communicate with the Sales and Logistics teams to maximise commercial vehicle utilisation.
  • To ensure contractors and hauliers understand and can deliver to the schedules identified;
  • To monitor haulier performance closely to ensure deliveries are made in line with agreements.
  • Carry out any reasonable duties as identified by your line manager.

Personal Specification

  • Analytical with intermediate excel skills, working
  • Previous experience of working with planning systems
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and resilient
  • Experience of vehicle scheduling.
  • Must be IT literate to an intermediate standard (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Confident, articulate with excellent communication skills.
  • Is detailed, can work under pressure and an excellent team player.

  • Working hours - 08:00-17:00 hours Monday- Friday with some flexibility required
