The role
You'll be part of a team responsible for maximising revenue and reducing arrears, crucial to maintaining and transforming council services across key revenue streams such as Council Tax, Current and Former tenant Arrears, Housing Benefit Overpayments, Business Rates and Business Improvement Districts.
What you'll do:
- As an Income Assistant you will provide vital administrative support to the Debt Resolution Service or Rent Income team.
- In our fast-paced high-stakes environment, you'll provide first-class efficient support to the public, businesses, external agencies, council officers, and elected members.
- You'll provide a range of administrative functions including using your organisational skills at meetings, maintaining records, and producing reports.
- Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity, compiling court evidence, managing databases and operational records.
How will you make an impact:
We need experienced Income Assistants who are passionate about public service, driven to make a difference and who will bring a blend of the following:
- Proven experience in a similar Office or Customer Support role with a track record of working to targets to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, you'll engage effectively with borough residents and council stakeholders.
- Experience in using software including Microsoft Office 365and other databases which will enable you to work seamlessly in our fully digital, agile workplace.
- Skilled in providing a customer-focused supporting role, following effective processes to maximise income collection.
- You will be discrete and able to deal with sensitive and confidential information professionally.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining meticulous attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Enjoy a balanced approach with flexible home working, alongside travel to our London Bridge HQ.
