Empowering Learning are a market leading education recruitment company. We are working in partnership with Secondary Academy on the outskirts of Chesterfield who are looking to appoint a Head of Year 11 on a full time basis starting ASAP on a temporary supply engagement, it will be at least until Christmas, with the potential to continue in to January 2025.

This is a full-time vacancy Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible. The school are looking to recruit an experienced, strong leader to support the pastoral management for Year 11. You will be responsible for supporting the well-being of students within your year group, providing a safe space for students to express their feelings and talk through any issues.

Strong administration skills are required, and the ability to communicate with students, staff, parents and carers and outside agencies is a must.

The job

  • Providing Pastoral support to students in Year 11.
  • Working with parents/carers and outside agencies to support the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of the child inside school and out.
  • To provide supportive leadership, regularly checking in with staff and supporting any issues that may arise.
  • To support the school standards of behaviour, supporting with on call and detention duties.
  • To provide specialist support expertise to assist departmental staff, as appropriate.
  • To support the school in the implementation of agreed whole school policies and initiatives.
  • To plan and facilitate professional learning workshops as requested.

The successful candidate will

  • Have experience in a Head of Year or Pastoral Manager role.
  • Hold a degree or equivalent.
  • Have the ability to empathise with children, and be supportive whilst searching for solutions.
  • Have excellent behaviour management.
  • Have experience of implementing a range of strategies to raise student achievement, with evidence of success.
