About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic team at a primary school in Newham, London. This full-time position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with diverse learning needs. Starting in September, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Learning: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons, providing support to individual students or small groups to ensure they understand and complete their work.
- Special Educational Needs (SEN): Work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with learning difficulties, emotional and behavioral issues, and physical disabilities.
- Personalized Assistance: Tailor support to meet the unique needs of each student, helping to develop their academic skills, self-confidence, and independence.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment, managing behavior effectively and ensuring all students are engaged in learning.
- Communication: Liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to provide consistent and effective support for students.
- Progress Monitoring: Assist in monitoring and recording student progress, providing feedback to teachers and participating in meetings to discuss student development.
- Resource Preparation: Help prepare learning materials and resources to support lesson plans and activities.
- Inclusive Environment: Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students, fostering a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
Requirements:
- Previous Experience: Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable, especially in supporting children with SEN.
- Educational Background: A relevant qualification in education or childcare is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine interest in supporting the educational and emotional needs of children.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to varying classroom environments and student needs.
- Commitment: Dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- DBS Check: Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
