An exciting opportunity has arisen within the London Fire Brigade's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team for a Business Support Officer. This role is crucial in providing essential support and coordination across the team to facilitate the delivery of cultural change. The ideal candidate will be the backbone of the team, possessing exceptional organisational skills, a flair for creativity, and outstanding communication abilities.

Day to Day of the role

  • Coordinate and manage multiple workstreams such as equality impact assessments, staff networks, DEI assessments, training, and other events.
  • Manage logistics for meetings, including room bookings, AV setup, agenda preparation, and note-taking.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as managing schedules, filing systems, and DEI calendar.
  • Monitor and manage electronic mailboxes, categorising incoming inquiries for efficient follow-up.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, providing advice and support on DEI matters.
  • Develop and maintain processes to monitor team performance, report on progress, and manage internal accountability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience producing written material for various stakeholders and working independently to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and provide line management support.
  • Experience working with diverse groups and in administrative roles, preferably in the public sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, email, and diary calendar management.
  • Numerical skills for interpreting statistical information and budget management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical skills.
  • Organisational skills to manage workloads and contribute to projects.
  • Project management experience, including managing senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) is desirable.
