Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Full Time)
Location: Kirkby
Start Date: Monday 30th September

About the Role: An inclusive, dynamic special educational needs (SEN) school in Knowsley is seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from Monday 30th September 2024. This rewarding position will involve working with children and young people aged 3-19 who have a range of learning difficulties, including severe and complex needs.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students with special needs and committed to promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment. You'll work closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support, helping students to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher in the planning and delivery of adapted lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with complex needs, helping them engage in learning activities and develop key life skills.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Offering personal care and emotional support to students, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
  • Supporting students during sensory activities, physical education sessions, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Promoting independence, positive behaviour, and social interaction among pupils.
  • Working closely with other staff members, including therapists and external professionals, to ensure holistic support for each student.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) is essential.
  • A compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting students with a range of learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and a commitment to promoting the welfare of vulnerable children.
  • Ability to assist with personal care and physical needs of students as required.
