Nurture Teacher

Hays Education are working with a school in Sheffield who are needing a Nurture Teacher from September. This school has its local community at its heart, and is committed to providing education in a secure and exciting environment. They are Ofsted rated "Good" and offer state of the art facilities. The school is situated near to the M1 motorway and has good transport links whether travelling by car or on public transport.

Currently, the school is going through an exciting period of transition with a new Headteacher joining in September. They are looking for strong, enthusiastic individuals to join their team at the start of this exciting period.

As a Nurture Teacher you will work within the schools Alternative Provision, teaching KS3 and KS4 students who are working at Primary Level. You will be expected to plan, deliver and mark schemes of work that have a more targeted approach to each student. You will work alongside a team of Teaching Assistants, Pastoral Managers, Behaviour Managers and the SENCO to ensure that each student gets the best level of teaching and pastoral support. You will be required to liaise with parents/carers, and potentially attending review meetings with the Senior Leadership Team. This is a full-time job, initially on a temporary basis with a view to becoming permanent further down the line.

In order to apply for this job you must:

  • be a qualified teacher with a PGCE and QTS. Primary qualified is preferable but not essential
  • ideally have experience working either with students who are working at Primary level, or worked in a Special Needs school
  • have experience working with children/young people, ideally within the last 2 years
  • have strong organisational skills
  • have strong literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
  • have a valid, enhanced DBS registered with the update service, or be willing to apply for one
