We are urgently seeking a Cyber Security Researcher who has extensive experience in Network Security design and implementation.

This for our client who are a leading defence and aerospace company. This will be on a long term contract and based onsite in Newport.

Overview of the role:
This jobholder undertakes cutting edge digital security research and innovation activities with the ultimate goal of developing solutions to the business' problems for which a solution doesn't currently exist. Further, the jobholder builds and maintains awareness and knowledge of best-practice technology trends and commercially available digital security solutions.

Responsibilities:
The jobholder will be accountable for activities in each of the following areas:
Coordination: Coordinate Cyber Security innovation across the business to maximise alignment, and ensure knowledge transfer. Build and maintain working network across the clientthe client among subject matter peers and stakeholders. Undertake internal & external engagements on behalf of the digital security office.
Collaboration: Collaborate in Cyber Security innovation activities, with internal and external peers. Provide expert consultation services on the specialist Cyber Security subject
Innovation: Deliver innovation projects to cost, quality and time constraints. Deliver activity reports and presentations to cost, quality and time constraints. Build and maintain a research network to support the specialist Cyber Security subject

Skillset & Experience
Essential:

  • Network Security design and implementation
  • Design & configuration of IP networks including virtualised infrastructure.
  • Experience configuring network firewalls, IDS, IPS, Honeypots etc
  • Deep insight into network cyber attacks and their mitigation.
  • software development / scripting / web apps, e.g. Python, Rust.
  • Design and execution of innovation and/or solution development projects
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English.

Desirable :

  • Industrial Control Security.
  • Cloud and other Cyber Security topics.
  • Cyber industry publication (blogs, SANS articles etc).
  • Recent Cyber Security research publications.
  • Managing NDAs, IPR, Patent Applications.
  • Spoken & written French / German.
  • Certifications such as Cisco R&S / CCNA / CCNA-S
  • Data Analytics / AI/ML applied to Network Security (tools & techniques).

Education
Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Comp Sci, Comms & Networking, Cyber or similar.

Desirable

  • Recent PhD or master's relevant to "Cyber Security".
  • Professional training / certifications and experience in Cyber Security.

Additional Information
This jobholder may be required to attend business meetings, events and conferences across Europe (particularly the UK, France and Germany), and must be able to travel accordingly (up to 20%).
