Estates Assistant

We are looking for an Estates Assistant to be a part of the Crown House Estates team providing support and caretaking services to the Crown estate in Darwen.

The Estates Assistant will be reporting to the Estates and Facilities Manager. The role is part of a wider team including CDC Estates, Reception and Post Room facilities. Standard hours of work to be 7am to 2pm.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure that all demised areas of the Crown House estate are maintained to an agreed standard.
  • Ensuring proper consideration is given to the financial impact of any agreed works.
  • Ensure that basic facilities, such as water, lighting and heating, are well-maintained with any faults being dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers in delivering goods, services and projects in accordance with strategy.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences. This includes taking the role of Crown House Fire Warden and First Aider when required.
  • Ensure staff comply with company policy on Crown House car parking, and report any unresolved issues to their line manager.
  • To ensure full and continued provision of supplies in washrooms and photocopying areas.
  • Resolving office machinery/equipment problems directly or reporting them to reception/supplier to organiser repair.
  • Control and manage the waste and storage facility in the Crown House basement. Liaising with Nimtech when necessary.
  • To deliver a range of caretaking duties including housekeeping, maintenance, distribution of parcels removal and repair of furniture.
  • To help organise and facilitate office relocations within Crown House.
  • Registering incidents and near misses on the Crown Care site.
  • Carry out compliance inspections as required
  • To act as a first point of contact and source of advice on a wide range of issues to all Crown colleagues.

Skills and Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • First Aid at Work Certificate
  • Health & safety qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Individuals should however have a basic understanding of the risk assessment/work permit process' and the ability to identify potential risks Previous experience in similar role desirable
  • PC literate in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to understand and undertake basic maintenance tasks
  • Practical understanding of machinery e.g. photocopiers
  • Reliable, punctual and flexible approach
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work autonomously
  • Confident, pleasant and assertive manner
